Reconsidering ‘Home’: A new research report using data collected by Multicultural Insights on the mobility intentions of Syrians in the Netherlands

Following the change in authorities in Syria in December 2024, International Organization for Migration initiated research on the mobility intentions of Syrians who arrived in the European Union, aiming to inform evidence-based policies. Multicultural Insights is proud to have supported the design and conducted the data collection for this research, using a mixed-methods approach that included 897 quantitative phone surveys and 30 in-depth qualitative phone interviews with Syrians in the Netherlands. We greatly value the collaboration with our partner, Investimate, which engaged a team of Syrian interviewers—an essential element for the success of this project.

The first research report released by IOM provides valuable insights into the situation of Syrians in the Netherlands and analyses their current and future mobility intentions, focusing on the reasons, barriers and needs underpinning their decisions, and serving as an important tool for decision-makers.
